Every keen baker knows the age-old trick of cooking with baking beans. These ceramic beans can be used to fill pastry cases to prevent blistering and shrinkage during baking. They’re reusable and heat-resistant up to 240oC.
Thoroughly wash product in soapy water before first use, rinse and dry. Check the beans are cool before handling or returning to storage container.
Preparation and Usage
Prick the unbaked pastry with a fork. Cover with baking beans. Pack the beans against the sides as this where shrinkage is most likely to occur. After baking and when the beans have cooled, remove and hand wash in soapy water. Dry and return beans to storage container.
